Education system and gender discrimination

Mentioned poem in the picture is one of the piece we all loved in our childhood. It is a Bengali poem we read in our childhood. It is kind of a little fantasy we had in our hearts. But today, as a grown up woman I feel it as extremely biased piece of writing. Yes, we are taught from our childhood that khuku (the girl) have to do all the household chores and the khuku's hair have to be long and pretty. It's 21st century and still our children are learning how a girl/woman supposed to be. Why it is always the khuku who goes to poddo dighir ghate and not the other side of the coin? Why we say that Gopal (the boy) is a subodh balok and never say the same about any Gopali/Khuku?

When our education system is so Gender biased from the first day of our learning, how we could even expect the society to change? Till now we do not have any problems with "khuku galo jol ante" and "gopal ekti subodh balok" and we expect our ministers to accept us with our chosen wardrobe? Without doing any work the boy is referred as good one, just because he is a boy and instead of doing hard work during the tough time ("akash ghire megh koreche") nobody even notices the girl's struggle to put things together. We are learning to praise the boys and never consider about the girls feelings from generation to generation and we expect a violence free society!!! Are we serious???
